MariApps and Navidium start vessel optimisation joint venture

MariApps Marine Solutions, owned by the Schulte Group, has entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with Finnish maritime clean tech company Navidium to develop new systems for vessel optimisation and performance improvement.

The joint venture partners will work with BSM and its Fleet Performance Centre (FPC) staff to build upon the existing Performance and Voyage software modules previously developed by BSM and MariApps, focusing on telemetry and onboard analytics.

The joint venture has assembled a team of 70 contributors, including masters and chief engineers, naval architects, electrical engineers, analysts, project managers, data scientists, and software developers, and BSM will pilot selected products from the JV on its managed vessels for evaluation relative to the specific requirements of its fleet.

One of the new partners’ initial goals is to offer Vessel Operation Centre (VOC) services, providing ship owners and managers with a centralised view of operational, navigational, technical, and maintenance data, for vessel crews and shore teams alike.

The VOC will incorporate real-time weather advisory services to augment traditional navigational tools, to assist crews in optimal voyage planning, and will additionally support condition-based and preventive maintenance through continuous monitoring of the performance and condition of the vessel and the equipment on board.
