Costamare MTS latest to add cloud simulation training

Costamare Maritime Training Services in Greece has become the latest facility to add remote cloud-based simulator training to its course options, following the agreement of a new deal with Wärtsilä Voyage.

A long list of global training centres has begun implementing cloud-based systems in recent months, in response to travel and assembly restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Costamare’s online installation will include navigational and engine room simulators to provide remote classroom configurations with instructor and multiple student stations.

“Making simulation available via the Cloud is a great additional capability for us, allowing us to provide even better service to seafarers,” said Captain Velmachos Vasileios, Training Manager at Costamare MTS.

“Distance learning courses are here to stay and will make training more accessible and flexible to all. The Wärtsilä technology represents an important step forward in maritime training, which enhances both the safety and efficiency of ship operations.”
