Zeaborn Ship Management tankers implement Fleet Operations Solution

Hamburg-based third-party ship manager Zeaborn Ship Management (ZSM) is to implement the Fleet Operations Solution (FOS) digital navigation platform from Wärtsilä Voyage for each of the 12 vessels its managed tanker fleet, following the agreement of a new contract.

The systems will be used to benchmark voyage execution, support the safety of the fleet and reduce crew workload, the ship manager says.

FOS integrates ECDIS with voyage planning functions and links the onboard systems with shore operations. Data can be harnessed from various shipboard and external sources and processed using machine learning and data analytics for decision support, ultimately enhancing navigational safety.

“Digital innovation is a key element for ZSM to ensure that our managed vessels are executing voyages as safely and as efficiently as possible,” said Matthias Ritters, Managing Director, Zeaborn Ship Management Tankers.

“Wärtsilä’s solution gives us that increased transparency, connecting key stakeholders onboard and ashore in real-time, as well as making navigation and planning easier for the crew.”

The delivery includes the FOS navigation package, with its voyage planning and execution modules, ECDIS operational leases and the Wärtsilä BridgeMate tablet application that enables back-up charts, navigation decision support and berthing assistance on wings to be accessed from anywhere on the vessel.
