Classification society ClassNK has granted its Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions to the SEAWALKER web platform for remote assistance and maintenance operations, developed by SEAHARMONY LP.
ClassNK’s Innovation Endorsement offers certification services for newly developed technologies, to establish appropriate evaluation criteria for novel systems. Among the certification categories, ‘Products & Solutions’ covers digital equipment and software technology installed for use on vessels.
The SEAWALKER web platform is a software system for remote onboard assistance for vessels, allowing field technicians to receive audio/video streaming support from remote experts, via a satellite connection or any other available secure network.
ClassNK has verified the functionality of SEAWALKER based on its ability to provide remote support connected with remote devices, including Smart Glasses which allow hands-free operation.
The class society also assessed the potential carbon reduction potential of the use of these types of remote technologies, and has now issued a certificate to SEAHARMONY LP for the product.
