Spire weather data to be integrated with Gale Force

Spire has announced a new contract with Sweden’s Gale Force, a weather routing and performance monitoring service, to provide weather data from its satellite data network for the Gale Force maritime route optimisation platform.

Spire’s global weather data will be integrated with Gale Force to improve route recommendations for maritime customers, using information gathered by its constellation of more than 100 satellites.

This data is processed and enhanced using machine learning technologies to provide global weather forecasts for the maritime sector.

“If you work in shipping, you know that weather is of the utmost importance as it can make or break your journey,” said Tom Sandberg, Gale Force CEO.

“Spire’s data and analytics give us insights into weather patterns in the far reaches of the ocean to ensure our customers have the best route to get to their end destinations faster, safer and in a more fuel-efficient manner.”
