MOL LNG extends VSAT deal with NSSLGlobal

MOL LNG Transport (Europe), a subsidiary of Japanese shipping group Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), has agreed a new three-year VSAT contract with NSSLGlobal.

The deal builds on the companies’ existing satcoms agreement by adding an improved airtime package, as well as crew Wi-Fi hotspot and entertainment streaming services using NSSLGlobal’s SMART@SEA system, and new cyber and IT managed services.

The CrewVision system provides on-demand access to a variety of movies, TV programmes and sports in various languages, using NSSLGlobal’s SatLink hub technology to deliver a multi-broadcast channel over the VSAT network and keep the entertainment channel separate from the vessel’s internet.

“We have been working with NSSLGlobal for many years and during that time they have always demonstrated their customer focus with their ability to deliver extensive and quality support,” said Pete Adsett, Chief Information Technology Officer, MOL LNG Transport (Europe).

“Their proposal proved to be the best for meeting our considerable bandwidth, security and welfare demands now and in the future. We look forward to working with NSSLGlobal in rolling out these upgrades and new services.”

The contract will also see NSSLGlobal partner with MOL to trial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) services, the companies said.
