EDT Shipmanagement, a supplier of support vessels and services to the oil and gas industry, is the latest maritime operator to announce a trial of the Starlink satcom service from Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, through a deal with its existing connectivity provider Tototheo Maritime.
EDT Shipmanagement (part of the EDT Group of Companies) is a specialist in the operation of offshore oil, gas and renewable support vessels, together with towage and salvage vessels. The company will integrate the Starlink kits aboard its vessels and into its existing networks, and will have the opportunity to customise its preferred configuration based on its specific needs.
“In our constant strive for excellence in ship management services, we are delighted to embrace Tototheo’s Starlink know-how, providing next-generation hybrid solutions,” said Darios Melas, Managing Director of EDT Group.
“By integrating the Starlink technology, EDT is taking the next step into more reliable and efficient connectivity, enabling even further operational development.”
Tototheo was announced as an official Starlink reseller and integrator in January 2023, joining the expanding list of service providers offering the LEO (low earth orbit) satcom system to the maritime sector.
