Danaos Shipping is the latest Greek shipping company to add Starlink to its onboard connectivity networks, following the agreement of a new deal with its satcom service provider Navarino.
Danaos operates a fleet of 70 containerships and will use Starlink exclusively to upgrade its crew internet offerings across its vessels.
“With crew welfare being one of our company’s primary concerns, we welcome any new technology that will improve the lives of our seafarers around the world’s oceans,” said Vassilis Fotinias, IT Director at Danaos Shipping.
“The very high speeds of Starlink will mean that our crews are able to enjoy significantly improved communications with their families as well as enable many more recreational options during their downtime.”
“Of course, a very high-speed service like Starlink needs careful control and management and this is why we will be using Navarino’s Infinity platform to manage the way Starlink connectivity is delivered onboard and to get the most out of it.’
Fellow Greek operators Polembros Shipping, Atlantic Bulk and Enesel are among the other shipping companies in the country to have begun trials of Starlink in recent months.
