Turkey-based Beks Shipmanagement & Trading has begun a new project to deploy Elon Musk’s Starlink connectivity system across its fleet of 40 bulkers and tankers.
The systems will be supplied and installed by maritime satcom service provider Navarino and will be used by the ships to support business communications as well as delivering internet to crew members.
“We are delighted that Beks has chosen Navarino to equip Starlink’s LEO service across their fleet,” said Navarino’s Managing Director for Germany, Dimitrios Chatzitzanos.
“With Starlink onboard, ship operations will be enhanced and they will be in a position to experience connectivity speeds that are comparable to those on shore, while at the same time improving their seafarers’ morale thanks to this super-fast internet access to keep them in touch with their loved ones.”
Navarino has seen a flurry of new Starlink deals since the service was launched for maritime last year, with shipping companies like Costamare, Atlantic Bulk, Grace Management, Danaos Shipping and Blue Planet among those agreeing to install the connectivity package in just the last six months.
