ClassNK ZETA adds new emissions management features

ClassNK reports that has added a range of new features to its GHG emissions management tool, ClassNK ZETA (Zero Emission Transition Accelerator).

ClassNK ZETA is a used to visualise GHG emissions and CII ratings for ships. Based on data submitted to the ClassNK MRV Portal, a system for fuel consumption reporting for regulations such as IMO-DCS and EU-MRV, the application provides current status information and supports simulation of different options to reduce emissions from ships.

New features include an EU-ETS Management tool displaying GHG emissions for either the entire fleet or individual ships that are subject to the European emissions scheme, allowing the emissions allowances held by the company to be managed and highlighting where allowances may need to be purchased.

A monitoring system for managing BIMCO CII clauses has also been added, to track CII rating targets agreed between shipowners and charterers based on BIMCO clauses for time charter parties. This feature allows real-time monitoring of attained CII and simulates changes by ship speed, to support better planning of operations to achieve the agreed CII rating target.

Further functionalities in preparation for the FuelEU Maritime regulation, which will be introduced for EU-related voyages from 2025, are expected to be added to the software in the near future.
