$40m partnership to deliver positioning tech for autonomous ports

BTG Positioning Systems, a supplier of positioning measurement systems for container terminals, and GPR Ground Positioning Radar have agreed a $40 million strategic collaboration to bring new positioning system technologies to ports.

The two companies plan to work together to support ports in building fully autonomous supply chains, utilising their co-developed technology that deploys ground-penetrating radar to position autonomous equipment accurately in all visibility conditions.

The $40 million partnership grants BTG exclusive rights to the use of GPR’s core technology in ports.

“Our new absolute positioning measurement system is a game-changer for the industry,” said Diek Neurdenburg, CEO of BTG Positioning Systems.

“It provides the same level of precision and reliability as our traditional systems but without the need to implement infrastructure facilities. This opens the door to broader acceptance of autonomous guided vehicles and gantries, contributing to the efficiency and safety of container terminal operations.”
