Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced that its FOCUS operational data analysis software system has been verified by ClassNK.
The Fleet Optimal Control Unified System (FOCUS) was first launched by MOL in 2018 as a project to gather and apply ship operational data to improve operations, utilising new technologies in areas like such as Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins.
ClassNK has now granted its Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions to the system, having verified that its various functions operate correctly in its stated use as a collection and analysis platform for detailed data from connected vessels.
Specifically, the verification process included an evaluation of the software’s vessel performance analysis capabilities, which integrates operational knowledge and naval architecture methodologies, as well as its effectiveness in promoting low GHG emissions and improvement of effective operations through precise performance analysis.
The system was also certified as supporting improved safety in vessel operation through the enhancement of effective support from shore side, and for utilising visualisations of noon report data to improve data accuracy.
