NAPA is the latest maritime software firm to announce the release of a new module to assist in management of compliance with the FuelEU Maritime regulations coming into effect in 2025.
The system uses EU MRV and noon report data, linked with NAPA’s existing range of ship performance analysis and simulation tools, to measure expected penalties in real time and simulate different compliance scenarios for the fleet, such as pooling, banking or borrowing CO2 emissions from the following year.
The FuelEU module has been applied to around 1,500 vessels during the pilot phase through ClassNK’s ZETA platform. ClassNK is the owner of NAPA and provided advice on regulatory and reporting requirements during development of the software.

The next stage of development will see NAPA add new features for the FuelEU tool, including simulating the impact of fuel changes for past and future voyages in terms of penalties, costs and emissions. The system will also recommend optimal compliance alternatives.
