German Tanker Shipping has agreed a strategic partnership with Sea IT System of Sweden, a deal which will see the implementation of a full vessel IT management set-up across the shipping company’s fleet of tanker vessels, including new builds and existing vessels.
The agreement follows on from the successful completion of a Proof of Concept (PoC) conducted aboard the tanker TMS Seacod during drydock in Denmark.
The PoC featured Sea IT’s BlueCORE platform, designed to harmonise security, applications and OT operations onboard vessels, which was linked to a hybrid communication setup deployed for the trial that included Starlink, VSAT as back up, and GSM.
“The maritime industry is shifting rapidly toward digitalisation, and vessel owners and operators are investing strategically in tools and applications to adapt to this shift,” said Richard Seemann, CFO of German Tanker Shipping.
“Sea IT’s BlueCORE solution offers us a seamless, integrated IT platform that allows our internal IT staff to focus on development, leaving liability and system management to a trusted, industry-focused partner.”
“This partnership ensures optimised, sustainable operations. It takes us beyond traditional IT business models and prepares us to meet future regulatory and operational challenges head-on.”
