Chinese heavy-lift crane newbuilds get IBS

Two newly built heavy-lift crane vessels at Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding in China are to be outfitted with Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS) from Anschütz following a new agreement.

The IBS is equipped with five Synapsis NX multifunctional workstations for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), radar and conning applications, as well as autopilot, X- and S-band radars and a triple-gyro compass system.

Additional navigation sensors and displays are integrated into the IBS, with all sensor data collected centrally for processing and analysis. The Synapsis NX software selects and verifies the best available data to create a picture of the maritime situation and distributed that information to all integrated applications and displays.

The application also centrally manages configurations, health status, available redundancies and alarms.

The new vessels, which have a lifting capacity of 5,000 tonnes, will be chartered out for operations such as salvage and wind farm installations upon delivery.
