MPP Carriers to deploy telemedicine systems

Athens-based ship management company MPP Carriers has agreed a deal to adopt a digital telemedicine system from VIKAND to enhance the health and wellbeing of its crews, in partnership with satcom service provider Navarino.

The agreement will see telemedicine services made available aboard MPP Carriers’ vessels, ensuring access to medical and mental health support at any location.

The Telemedicine Digital Plus package includes the VIKAND Connect App running on the Master’s PC, providing video, audio, and text communication with healthcare teams, as well as in-app appointment scheduling. Users will have remote access to medical and mental health professionals at any time, to provide swift assistance during emergencies.

Ongoing case management is also included, covering diagnosis, emergency hospital coordination, interaction with P&I clubs, and electronic medical records for onboard cases.

“Our seafarers’ health and wellbeing are paramount to us,” said Andys Thoma, MPP Carriers’ Crew Manager.

“By implementing VIKAND’s Telemedicine Digital Plus package, we’re taking a proactive step toward ensuring they have access to world-class medical support no matter where their journey takes them.”
