Teekay Tankers has announced a new partnership to implement JiBe’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system across its global fleet, with the aim of integrating fleet management functions into a single platform and improving decision-making through data analytics.
The move will also see Teekay become one of the first clients to integrate JiBe’s UpWind and Yamba.ai platforms, which provide real-time data to support decision-making processes.

This advantage was evident in two key areas: first, all Jibe customers operate on a single-version platform, and second, its advanced AI and big data capabilities, delivered through the UpWind and Yamba.AI platforms,” said Teekay CIO, Jamus Spink.
“Transitioning to a modern, single-version cloud platform eliminates the costly, time-consuming customisations that have previously hindered our ability to upgrade and seize innovation opportunities.”

Teekay joins fellow shipping companies like Anglo Eastern, OSG, Eastern Pacific and Seaspan in signing up to the JiBE platform, with a fleet of nearly 2,000 ships from various operators now running on a single version of the ERP application.
“The market seems to be understanding that customer-specific versions will not enable the use of AI models in a scalable way, this essentially means the investment in the wrong ERP may end up a lot more painful that initially thought,” said Yariv Zghoul, CEO of JiBe.
