Crew well-being assessment tool introduced

WiseStella has launched a new crew well-being assessment tool designed to help shipping companies address the mental and physical health challenges faced by seafarers.

The Wise Well-Being module was developed in collaboration with HR experts and psychologists to identify workplace issues such as stress, fatigue, harassment, and bullying, aiming to improve safety, satisfaction, and retention.

“Seafarers often operate in isolated environments with limited access to mental health support,” said WiseStella CEO Ferhat Abul.

“Many are reluctant to speak out about their struggles. They need a voice under a cloak of anonymity that helps them, and their employers, take appropriate action.”

The tool is designed for direct use by shipping companies, providing data specific to their own operations rather than generic industry benchmarks. This involves completion of an interactive digital survey, which can be anonymous, measuring physical, mental, social, and intellectual health, with questions based on input from psychologists and health specialists.

Future planned improvements to the Wise Well-Being module will include direct access to mental health professionals, awareness training, and personalised recommendations.
