BW LNG has agreed a deal with Oceanly to support its fleet optimisation and automation efforts, following the completion of a successful proof of concept using the technology.
The rollout of Oceanly Performance Plus began in late 2024 on two vessels and will expand to BW LNG’s full fleet of LNG carriers (LNGCs) and floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) by mid-2025.
The software integrates real-time sensor data for automated vessel reporting, energy efficiency analysis, emissions tracking, itinerary planning, and benchmarking.
“The first objective of the project has been to streamline the vessel reporting process,” said Børge Mokleiv, Data Scientist, at BW LNG.
“At present this is very labour intensive, but with use of Oceanly we see that utilisation of sensor data now greatly simplifies the onboard job of submitting noon reports to charterers while we also reduce the time spent onshore validating and correcting data.”
Harald Martin Myhre, Vice President IT and Digitalisation at BW LNG, also adds: “The results so far are promising, and we are excited to implement this across our entire fleet in the coming months.”
