Cobham Satcom reports that it has issued a new software release for its SAILOR 6110 mini-C GMDSS system to enable printerless operation, supporting compliance with IMO Resolution MSC.434(98) and reducing onboard equipment requirements.
The update allows messages to be stored digitally by Integrated Navigation Systems or on other approved external backups, removing the need for a dedicated printer. The company claims that the SAILOR 6110 is currently the only mini-C system to support this functionality.
The functionality is delivered via an updated software version for the SAILOR 6018 Message Terminal. The release includes additional safety and usability updates, such as improved display of incoming distress alerts on the Alarm Panel and better handling of Bridge Alert Management warnings.
