Zero USV unmanned models hit 7,500 nautical miles in range

Zero USV has expanded its unmanned surface vessel (USV) range with the launch of the Oceanus12 XLR, a new extra-long-range variant capable of travelling over 7,500 nautical miles and mission durations of up to 60 days.

The company operates a charter fleet of over-the-horizon USVs. The original Oceanus12, launched earlier this year, has a range of 2,500 nautical miles and capacity for 20–25-day missions.

The monohull craft includes a twin electric hybrid drive, solar charging capability, and the MarineAI GuardianAI autonomy system as standard. It also features a modular payload bay, sensor-agnostic design, and a quick-change keel for rapid sensor swap-outs.

“The ability to conduct sustained operations at sea without the need for regular refuelling or crew-related logistics is becoming increasingly crucial as operational pressure on resources and time become more demanding,” said Matthew Ratsey, founder and managing director of Zero USV.

“This is even more pronounced as international tensions rise, particularly in regions with contested maritime boundaries, heightening the need for reliable, high endurance long range USVs. In fact, they never been more critical.”
