Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has signed a framework agreement with Elomatic to jointly develop technologies aimed at improving vessel energy efficiency, enabling alternative fuel adoption, and supporting digital transformation in maritime operations.
The agreement will see the two companies collaborate on a range of projects targeting fuel and emissions reduction, alongside enhanced asset performance management through improved data analytics and ship modelling.
Initial work will focus on the application of Mitsubishi’s Air Lubrication System (MALS) to reduce hull resistance, and the deployment of its modular ammonia fuel supply system, MAmmoSS. These technologies will be integrated on selected vessels to support efficiency improvements and future fuel use.
Elomatic will contribute digital capabilities through its Aura APM asset performance management system and Reality Capture Solutions (RCS), used to generate 3D ship models for planning and maintenance.
“We are proud to collaborate with Elomatic, a company whose digital and engineering expertise aligns well with our wider strategic vision. This agreement represents a major milestone in expanding our global partnerships and delivering next-generation maritime technologies,” said Shingen Takeda, Chief Technology Officer, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding.
