Louis Dreyfus Armateurs deploys Ascenz Marorka optimisation system on RoRo vessels

Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has agreed a deal with Ascenz Marorka for the supply of its Voyage Optimisation technology to four LDA RoRo vessels, including three newbuilds and the existing Ville de Bordeaux.

The system includes features to support wind propulsion performance, offering integration with the ship’s digital twin using sail performance models and polar curves.

The platform also provides access to Ascenz Marorka’s Real-Time Fleet Performance Monitoring Centres, staffed by mariners overseeing vessel operations and safety.

The deployment follows a trial period beginning ashore in April 2024, with the system progressively rolled out onboard the Ville de Bordeaux in early 2025 during transatlantic operations.

“Choosing the right routing software is a key decision for LDA, it allows us to fully leverage wind propulsion, contributing directly to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, thus delivering the decarbonated service expected by our clients,” said Samira Draoua, CEO of LD Armateurs.

Looking ahead, we are also exploring the implementation of similar routing technologies across other vessels in our fleet, even if not equipped with sails, as part of our continuous efforts to optimise fuel consumption and enhance environmental performance.”
