Station Satcom to offer Eutelsat OneWeb LEO connectivity to maritime

Station Satcom has agreed a new deal with Eutelsat to add OneWeb’s LEO (low earth orbit) connectivity to its existing maritime communications offering, expanding on an existing partnership based on GEO (geostationary) services.

The agreement will allow Station Satcom to offer hybrid satellite connectivity using both GEO and LEO capacity.

“This agreement reflects the growing demand for high-performance connectivity at sea, and reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, high-speed, low-latency solutions that power the digital evolution of the maritime industry,” said Thierry Polycarpe, Vice President of Global Maritime at Eutelsat.

Based in India, Station Satcom says that it aims to utilise these new capabilities to support growing demand for real-time data, improved operational performance, and enhanced crew welfare, while also enabling broader digitalisation of maritime operations.

“This is a game-changer for the maritime sector at large. By integrating OneWeb’s LEO satellite service, we can now offer seamless connectivity for ship owners, crew welfare and offshore operations,” said Anshul Khanna, CEO of Station Satcom.
