Stream Marine Technical adds new simulator for alternative fuels training

Stream Marine Technical (SMT) has added a new K-Sim Engine simulator from Kongsberg Maritime to its training facility, expanding its capabilities for simulation-based training in alternative fuels.

The system will support IGF Code training for LNG-fuelled vessels, with modules covering fuel economy, emissions reduction, and emergency procedures. The K-Sim Engine is certified by DNV and meets IMO STCW requirements.

SMT says the investment will support the development of skills required to manage dual-fuel and low-emission systems, as the maritime sector transitions toward alternative fuels.

“As the industry transitions towards cleaner fuels, high-quality training is essential to ensure seafarers are not only compliant, but confident in managing these technologies,” adds Martin White, CEO at SMT.

“Our investment in the K-Sim Engine supports both immediate LNG training needs and future alternative fuel vessel scenarios as demand in this sector continues to grow.”
