Alpha Bulkers partners with Weathernews for fleet performance system

Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement has signed an agreement with Weathernews to implement the company’s Total Fleet Management Solution (TFMS) across its dry bulk fleet.

The Athens-based operator says it will begin with 22 vessels before extending the system to all 35 ships in the coming months.

TFMS, built on the SeaNavigator platform, provides voyage optimisation, performance monitoring and weather services, including Optimum Ship Routing (OSR-e).

Alpha Bulkers says its decision followed a review of multiple providers, with selection criteria including weather accuracy, detailed reporting, optimisation capabilities and support for faster decision-making.

“Through in-depth discussions and workshops, we were able to develop a deep understanding of Weathernews’ offering,” said Pavlos Vitos, General Manager and project lead at Alpha Bulkers.

“This being the start of an extensive agreement with Weathernews, our key considerations were building trust and testing the performance of the solutions. Our top leadership responded very positively and valued the expertise and responsiveness of the Weathernews team. We look forward to rolling out their technology on our vessels.”
