KR has awarded an Approval in Principle (AIP) to HD Hyundai Samho and HD Hyundai Mipo for a newly launched Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Accommodation System.
The system uses IoT sensors to control heating, ventilation, lighting, and other indoor environments, while also monitoring energy consumption in real time to improve efficiency.
KR said it also reviewed the system’s impact on cyber resilience, confirming its ability to maintain and restore functions in the event of an external cyber-attack or system failure.
“This AIP marks an important first step toward implementing an optimised accommodation system for the era of smart ships,” said Shim Hak Mu, Executive Vice President of HD Hyundai Samho.
“We will continue to develop next-generation smart solutions to lead the global shipbuilding industry.”
