Insurance firm Gallagher partners with Vanguard Tech on maritime risk

UK-based insurance company Gallagher has agreed a partnership with maritime insurance technology firm Vanguard Tech to provide clients with additional sector-specific risk and security analysis.

Vanguard Tech will act as an appointed representative for Gallagher in the marine insurance market, offering access to its AI-based risk monitoring platform.

The system delivers automated assessments of vessel safety throughout a voyage, supporting underwriters in risk evaluation and helping shipowners secure improved insurance terms.

Vanguard Tech analyses AIS data, weather, sanctions, maintenance records and other datasets to build risk profiles, supplemented by input from its analyst team. The firm’s Digital Guard system also tracks vessel passages in real time, scanning for hazards and dynamically adjusting routing to avoid danger.

“This partnership enables us to provide a unique service to clients through combining our expertise with the very best of risk maritime technology innovation,” said Angus Blayney, Marine Divisional Director at Gallagher.

“This is much needed insight at a time where our marine clients are navigating a fast-changing geopolitical landscape in combination with underwriters that are looking for additional assurances when providing cover.”

“Vanguard Tech provides a variety of high-quality services which allow our clients to mitigate their own risks, keeping both their seafarers and operations safe, whilst offering additional assurance to the insurance market.”
