Shipdex has announced version 4.1 of its Shipdex Viewer, adding new functionality to support user-defined data integration and workflow customisation.
The open digital standard for technical documentation is used by shipbuilders, suppliers, software developers and shipowners to exchange structured technical data. The latest update introduces the option for users to assign their own functional codes, such as SFI or proprietary classifications, to any component within a Shipdex dataset.
The new capability aims to simplify the process of integrating Shipdex-compliant content into ship management and maintenance systems.
“With this new capability, we’re not just displaying data – we’re empowering maritime companies to transform it into smart, system-ready information,” said Marco Vatteroni, Secretary General of Shipdex.

Shipdex says the latest release strengthens its position as a foundation for maritime digitalisation, supporting integration with planned maintenance, procurement, and compliance systems as the industry moves toward more standardised data exchange.
