Amex GBT launches new platform for maritime crew travel

American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has launched its Crew and Group Logistics Platform, a new system designed to simplify travel management for the energy, mining and marine industries.

The platform supports companies managing large, dynamic crew movements, delivering automated booking and integration with client workflows. Tested through more than half a million transactions in 2025, the company says it can process up to ten bookings per minute and can be configured for company-specific travel policies.

The system also supports batch spreadsheet imports, automated booking functions, and multiple itinerary options, allowing travellers to choose preferred arrangements.

“The platform represents our significant understanding of, and commitment to our EMM (energy, mining and marine), and oil and gas customers,” said Swapna Nair, Head of Energy, Mining & Marine at Amex GBT.

“We have been testing and building this purpose-built technology with input and feedback from our clients to address the unique operational intricacies of these industries offering multiple booking options that fit their individual requirements.”
