MarTrust partners with ISWAN to improve data-driven seafarer support

MarTrust has partnered with the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) to improve access to mental health support for seafarers, including the launch of a new Power BI Dashboard analysing wellbeing data on financial strain, fatigue and isolation.

MarTrust, part of Marcura, is a specialist maritime payments company, processing approximately $17 billion annually in crew payments, supplier transactions, and Cash to Master digital remittances.

A financial contribution from MarTrust will be made to support ISWAN’s helplines and outreach programmes, while the partnership will also make ISWAN’s resources accessible directly through the MarTrust crew app.

“We take around 450 new contacts each month, but that’s just a fraction of the seafarers who could benefit from our support,” said Simon Grainge, CEO of ISWAN.

“Through this partnership, we can reach more crew digitally; at a moment when they’re often thinking about their money, their family, and their wellbeing; and connect them to the right help when they need it most.”

Both organisations say the initiative is the foundation for long-term collaboration to scale awareness of welfare resources and develop new digital tools for the maritime workforce.
