ESL Shipping upgrades fleetwide connectivity

ESL Shipping has completed the rollout of a new multichannel internet system across its fleet to enhance operational data exchange and crew welfare.

The system, delivered by Pentonet, combines Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology with mobile networks to provide flexible connectivity independent of any single service provider.

“Reliable internet connectivity is a necessity for modern shipping operations,” said Janne Eklöf, Technical Director, ESL Shipping.

“This new system enables real-time data exchange, remote diagnostics, and enhanced integration with shore-based systems, supporting both operational and strategic goals.”

ESL Shipping said improved bandwidth and reliability will support digitalisation, operational efficiency, and crew welfare by enabling access to online services at sea.

Pentonet managed the technical implementation and integration process.
