Windward adds remote sensing tech to maritime intelligence platform

Windward reports that it has added Remote Sensing Intelligence (RSI) to its Maritime AI platform, integrating satellite imagery, RF detections and behavioural analytics.

Windward says that RSI combines multi-sensor satellite and RF inputs with vessel profiles, ownership networks and movement histories to provide real-time intelligence on maritime activity.

The system correlates electro-optical and synthetic aperture radar imagery, RF data and AIS information to highlight cargo anomalies, sanctions risks and spoofing attempts, aiming to reduce false positives during investigations. The technology includes automated source selection based on weather and sensor availability, as well as tasking and detection capabilities.

Windward notes that it will also offer intelligence outputs as professional service reports for agencies requiring evidence-based assessments.

“Due to collapsing launch costs, satellite constellations have grown dramatically. By pulling together dozens of satellites, we allow our customer to tap into our virtual constellation.  allowing for the constant monitoring of the maritime domain,” said Ami Daniel, CEO and Co-Founder of Windward.

“To leverage this wealth of images and data, organisations need context, accuracy, and the analytics to transform the images into insights and action.”

“This amalgamation of data sources provides unprecedented visibility into all maritime activities anywhere, and on demand. Our solution offers an end-to-end, mission-ready source for decisive, actionable intelligence, giving warfighters, operators and businesses the upper hand at sea in real time.”
