Marlink upgrades Eik Teleport to expand managed services capabilities

Marlink reports that it has upgraded its Eik Teleport facility in Norway, transitioning to a broader Managed Services Support Centre to support the growing range of digital systems used across its maritime customer base.

The company says the investment will improve delivery of managed services and provide continuous access to support as vessel network requirements continue to evolve.

As part of the upgrade, Marlink has added a customer laboratory that allows shipowners to evaluate real-world fleet network setups in a controlled environment. The laboratory replicates onboard configurations and disruption scenarios so that operators can test network behaviour, review operational risks, and assess how systems respond to unplanned events or local service restrictions.

The Centre also includes an environment able to simulate loss of connectivity caused by issues like local regulations, cyber-attacks, or interference affecting navigation and safety services, to allow vessel operators to build and test mitigation strategies before deployment.

“This upgrade to our facilities at Eik gives us the ability to provide real-time, real-world transparency on all the systems and services our customers have onboard their fleets and to make adjustments depending on their requirements,” said Tore Morten Olsen, President, Maritime, Marlink.

“Because we are able to simulate what interruptions and loss of service to ships would feel like onboard, we can help vessel operators plan in more detail and so drive safety of their assets and their people.”
