Good Friend Ship Management (GFSM) has agreed a deal with fellow Korean company Mapsea to supply an integrated digital platform for vessels owned by Sunwoo Tanker, expanding the shipping company’s use of AI-based operational tools.
The agreement calls for the delivery of a Vessel Management System that unifies maintenance management, electronic documentation and crew administration on a single platform.
The company says the system is designed to eliminate data silos by consolidating operational information and applying AI-driven analysis to support faster and more accurate decision-making across vessel operations.
The project will begin with the installation of the platform on four Sunwoo Tanker vessels. The partners plan to refine the system based on initial operational data before expanding it to additional ships within the fleet.
Sunwoo Tanker expects that the introduction of the integrated VMS will support improvements in operational efficiency and vessel safety as part of a ‘one solution’ approach to data management, combining maintenance, documentation and crew functions with real-time information flows.
“The integrated VMS solution is a key technology that will represent a breakthrough in terms of operational and management efficiency as well as securing the safety of ships,” said Sunwoo Tanker CEO Jeon Dae-Yeon (translated from Korean).
“Through cooperation with Mapsea, which has already proven its technology in the global market, Sunwoo Tanker and GFSM will implement the optimal service to provide a safer and more efficient operating environment.”
