MarinaChain has announced plans to establish a joint venture in Singapore as the company expands its maritime decarbonisation technology activities in Asia. The new entity will combine carbon accounting, alternative fuel trading, regulatory support and data infrastructure within a single platform for shipping companies.
The Korean startup provides AI-driven carbon reporting technologies, supporting compliance with emissions requirements including the EU ETS and IMO reporting regimes. Its MarinaNet system extracts operational data from Noon Reports and converts the information into regulatory documentation.
Following the onboarding of approximately 30 South Korean shipping companies in the six months after launching MarinaNet, MarinaChain is selecting Singapore as its first international base. The joint venture will be created with GreenMarine, a Singapore cleantech company active in green methanol trading, sustainability consulting and regulatory training.
“Singapore is where the future of maritime decarbonisation is being shaped,” said Ha Sung Yeop, Co-Founder and Director of MarinaChain.
“With shipping lines, fuel suppliers, financial institutions, and regulators operating in one ecosystem, Singapore is uniquely positioned to become the world’s most important hub for zero-carbon maritime operations.”
“Our goal is not simply to provide carbon accounting software. We aim to build Singapore’s first holistic maritime decarbonisation hub — a model that can expand to cover the entire Asian shipping market.”
The joint venture is expected to operate as a multi-service decarbonisation hub offering carbon accounting, alternative fuel brokerage, ESG and regulatory training, advisory services and a cross-border data and verification platform.
