Vega Reederei deploys Kaiko Systems

As part of a wider fleet renewal programme focused on diesel-electric newbuild coasters, Vega Reederei has completed a transition from its manual, spreadsheet-based safety processes to a digital set-up using Kaiko Systems software and mobile devices.

Vega says that the new Safety Management System has reduced reporting and administrative workload by up to 80% following adoption across its fleet.

Crews now complete inspections and safety rounds using mobile devices, capturing photo and video evidence that synchronises automatically with shore systems.

Kaiko’s Safety & Company Forms, Pre-PSC and Hull & Equipment modules provide real-time visibility of vessel condition through fleet dashboards and digital vessel maps, allowing management teams to focus on issues flagged by the system.

“With this new fleet, we decided from day one to use Kaiko Systems as our main digital checklist platform and go fully digital with ISM,” said Henrik König of Vega Reederei.

“Being able to request photos and videos inside the form is a big benefit. You know it’s real data, taken on scene.”
