MOL Global Ship Management deploys predictive engine maintenance for 12 LNG carriers

MOL Global Ship Management reports that it has signed a 10-year Lifecycle Agreement with Wärtsilä covering 12 LNG carriers, aimed at reducing engine downtime across the fleet through the use of data-driven predictive maintenance.

The Singapore-based ship manager, which is fully owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), will receive integrated operational and maintenance support, including Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning technology, remote operational assistance and proactive contract management.

The company says this approach will allow more flexible maintenance scheduling, extended service intervals and lower spare parts consumption, while ensuring continuous oversight of vessel condition and performance.

The agreement also includes Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance capability, which uses real-time vessel data to identify potential issues before they impact operations.

“Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Agreement will optimise our vessel operations and maintenance, ensuring that we can maximise uptime and performance,” said Namit Mathur, Director, MOL Global Ship Management.

“In addition, this agreement will play a crucial role in supporting the sustainable operations of our fleet by helping us reduce emissions and operate more efficiently.”

The 12 vessels covered by the agreement are new LNG carriers delivered in 2024 and 2025. Each is equipped with two six-cylinder and two eight-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines, four Wärtsilä gas valve units, and catalytic systems to reduce emissions.
