SEA.AI and BRNKL integrate AI vision recording and incident intelligence

SEA.AI reports that it has partnered with Barnacle Systems to integrate its AI-powered maritime vision technology with Barnacle’s BRNKL Black vessel monitoring and recording platform, creating a combined system for event detection, recording and post-incident analysis.

The partnership enables real-time detections generated by SEA.AI’s machine vision system to be captured and logged by BRNKL Black, which functions as a digital ‘black box’. Detected events include vessels, floating objects, hazards and near-miss situations, with visual evidence stored alongside timestamps, vessel data and operational context.

SEA.AI’s optical systems use machine learning to identify objects that may not be visible to radar or AIS, such as unlit vessels, partially submerged debris, marine mammals and person-overboard situations.

“By integrating SEA.AI’s machine-vision cameras with the BRNKL platform, we’re adding a powerful new layer of context to both real-time operations and post-mission analysis,” said Brandon Wright, CEO of Barnacle Systems.

“The ability to automatically detect and classify vessels, buoys, and objects in the water, including those not transmitting AIS, significantly enhances situational awareness. It’s a capability we’re excited to bring to enforcement, military, industrial, and government operators who rely on accurate, complete data to make informed decisions.”
