ACUA Ocean launches autonomous vessel monitoring system

ACUA Ocean has announced the launch of FleetMind, an Integrated Platform Monitoring System (IPMS) for autonomous vessels.

The system provides a hardware and software interface that enables high-level autonomy software to control the vessel while monitoring onboard systems, including propulsion, power management, and structural health.

The technology aggregates data from sources such as NMEA, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and other sensors into data lakes for analysis of vessel performance and maintenance.

The technology was first deployed onboard the USV Pioneer in the second quarter of 2025. Since then, it has completed more than 7,000 hours of on-water operations and collected over 25 billion data points, providing sub-second insights into vessel characteristics.

“Robotic systems are a prime example of software-enabled hardware,” said Neil Tinmouth, Chief Executive Officer at ACUA Ocean.

“We’ve invested significant time and energy into building the most reliable and robust platform as evidenced by our world first Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Workboat Code 3 regulatory approvals. Behind that exceptional product sits the intelligence enabled by FleetMind, which fills a critical gap in the USV autonomy stack”

The interface was developed in consultation with the Lloyd’s Register Human Factors team to reduce the cognitive load on shore-based operators and ensure compliance with UK Workboat Code 3 regulations.

Looking forward, ACUA Ocean says that it intends to enable multi-vessel integration for fleet and swarm engineering management via its Remote Operations Centre.
