Robosys launches simulator for autonomous navigation system

Robosys Automation has launched its new Voyager AI Simulator, designed to work with the company’s Voyager AI Autonomous Navigation System (ANS).

The simulator creates a digital twin of a vessel or Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) to enable testing, validation, mission planning, and rehearsal. By simulating engine performance, onboard sensors, and navigational data, the company says that the platform will allow teams to replicate real-world vessel behaviour within a controlled virtual environment.

The system supports the modelling of multiple vessel tracks, allowing users to build complex maritime traffic scenarios and conduct quantitative testing and analysis, evaluating performance and safety under realistic operational conditions, including the testing of collision avoidance behaviour compliant with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs).

In addition to shore-based simulation and operational testing, the platform can ingest live maritime traffic data to generate augmented traffic scenarios for training. It also supports Remote Piloting (RP) testing and can integrate with third-party hardware controllers to replicate remote vessel operations.

The Voyager AI Simulator incorporates an integrated Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) display to provide chart-based navigation environments, with drag-and-drop scenario creation tools for users to build and modify configurations for testing at Degree 4 autonomy.
