IEC Telecom unveiled a new voucher-based system for maritime connectivity, aimed at improving crew wellbeing. The system uses a two-layer model that combines a centralised system for managing corporate allowances with a captive portal for on-demand data bundles.
The IEC Voucher Manager, which is integrated within the company’s OptiView ecosystem, provides control for IT teams through policy-driven allocation and real-time monitoring across fleets.
For the crew, the IEC Social captive portal allows for a self-service experience where users can activate access, track their usage, and purchase additional data bundles.
The system is designed to handle simultaneous access for multiple users across hybrid environments, including LEO, Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO), and LTE networks. By separating corporate, welfare, and prepaid traffic, the platform aims to also improve network security and operational resilience.
“With the rapid adoption of high-speed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) services, the challenge is no longer access, but how to manage it efficiently at scale,” said Melvin Tan, VP Maritime APAC, Growth & Partnerships at IEC Telecom.
