AD Ports Group and New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi have entered into a partnership to develop and pilot an intelligence engine designed to improve the efficiency of maritime operations, using stochastic models and spatial analytics to integrate vessel arrival predictions, berth allocation, and emissions monitoring.
The intelligence engine is intended to serve as a decision-support layer for human operators, providing suggestions for actions to take in planning port calls. The project aims to reduce wait times at anchorage and improve operational fluidity by improving the precision of vessel arrival times and berth allocation, reducing the need for physical port expansion.
“By integrating our deep expertise in port operations and trade facilitation with advanced predictive arrival intelligence and resilient operational modelling, we are accelerating the pace towards a future of autonomous decision-support,” said Mohamed Jamal-Eddine, Group Chief Digital & Information Officer at AD Ports Group.
As part of the multi-year agreement, AD Ports Group will provide access to operational data to facilitate real-world pilot deployments at select terminals and trade lanes. Successful outcomes from these pilots are intended to be scaled across the company’s global network.
“This partnership reflects Abu Dhabi’s broader ambitions and the UAE leadership in trade and infrastructure. By connecting research with application, we aim to support the UAE’s continued role as a global hub for logistics,” said Arlie Peters, Provost at NYU Abu Dhabi.
