Tidalis and UFA have agreed a strategic partnership focused on vessel traffic management and speech recognition following completion of a Proof of Concept (PoC) project that integrated maritime data intelligence with VHF speech recognition for operational communications.
The partnership aims to develop technology to make ports, waterways, and maritime operations safer and more efficient. UFA has provided technology for aviation environments for more than 40 years and now aims to apply that knowledge to the maritime sector.
“What we achieved together in the Proof of Concept exceeded our expectations. The integration of our maritime intelligence platform with UFA’s operational speech recognition expertise delivered a level of situational awareness and operational insight that simply did not exist before,” said Geert-Jan den Besten, CEO of Tidalis.
The PoC project tested the system’s capabilities during port operations, including vessel traffic management and situational awareness. Following the results, the two organisations will now focus on scalability and broader deployment.
“The Proof of Concept demonstrated something we have long believed: that advanced speech recognition technology, when combined with real-time connected data, is a gamechanger for maritime safety and operational performance,” said David Wolff, CEO of UFA Inc.
Tidalis and UFA will move into a joint programme covering product integration and a go-to-market strategy for the APAC region. The companies say they are currently in discussions with port authorities and shipping operators regarding commercial deployments, which are expected to be announced in the coming months.
