A new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report from Wallem Group highlights how the company is expanding staff wellness initiatives and increasing training on the use of digital platforms for vessel efficiency.
The 2025 ESG report from the maritime services provider reveals that the company delivered 30,480 hours of onboard wellness training for seafarers and conducted 40 Senior Management vessel visits, helping it secure a 96% crew retention rate.
New initiatives detailed in the report include a collaboration with international SOS company MedSea to deliver a series of mental and physical wellbeing webinars.
On the emissions reduction side, voyage performance and fuel efficiency are now measured using real-time data across 95% of vessels within the company’s managed fleet, while 28% of its ships are capable of running on alternative fuels. Nearly 10,000 hours of training have been provided to crews on operating the digital platforms used to improve vessel efficiency, including cyber security.
Additionally, Wallem provided seafarers with 5,733 hours of corporate governance and safety training while at sea to ensure best practices and minimise the risk of pollution or environmental impacts by meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance.
“Wallem recognises that healthy, motivated, and supported crew and onshore staff remain the cornerstone of safety and operational excellence,” said John Rowley, CEO of Wallem Group.
“We remain dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment, both at sea and ashore, with ESG policies that provide transparent, responsible practices for our stakeholders and are critical for the long-term success of our clients.”
