Singapore and Brazil in digital shipping corridor agreement

Singapore and Brazil have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).

The agreement will support cooperation on maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation, with the two countries working together on alternative marine fuel supply chains and digital information exchange.

Brazil’s renewable energy resources and production capabilities could support the production of zero- and near-zero greenhouse gas emission marine fuels, while Singapore is the world’s largest bunkering port and a major global hub port.

The GDSC will bring together these capabilities to support the development of alternative marine fuel supply chains between the two countries.

Singapore and Brazil will also explore digital information exchanges intended to improve maritime and port operations.

The two countries will work with industry on the research, development and adoption of emerging maritime technologies.
