Classification society Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has announced a range of new digitalisation initiatives to begin offering its services through a unified digital platform.
The society will create a separate ‘IRClass Digital’ department with a dedicated digital team focused on supporting connected ship and smart infrastructure development, improved online information and access management, automated design simulation and validation, smart emergency response systems, Digital Twins and real time condition monitoring.
Through its digital platform, the class society plans to offer remote vessel and fleet monitoring, performance and voyage optimisation, remote maintenance assistance, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring and other services.
IRClass has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with software firm Smart Ship Hub to develop its digital platform based on Smart Ship Hub’s existing technology, which allows ship owners to customise the system to their specific requirements.
“We believe that a collaborative approach to digitalisation in shipping is a proactive way forward for the maritime community,” said Arun Sharma, Executive Chairman of IRClass.
“As technological adoption in shipping is progressing rapidly, IRClass is well-positioned to offer value added services. This tie-up with Smart Ship Hub to develop ‘IRClass-Digital’ allows us to offer fully integrated and technology enabled service offerings to our customers and stakeholders.”
