Atlantic Offshore has reached an agreement with Inmarsat Maritime to implement Fleet LTE across the Norwegian offshore service provider’s multifunctional fleet, to provide access to 4G offshore fibre connectivity in the North Sea during offshore supply, seismic support and oil recovery activities.
Fleet LTE connects to 4G within specified coverage zones and automatically switches to Inmarsat’s Ka-band service, Fleet Xpress, when sailing elsewhere. Access to FleetBroadband’s L-band coverage for back-up is also included.
“Following our positive experience with Fleet LTE on board one of our vessels, we opted to roll the solution out across our entire fleet,” said Ove Gjerstad, QHSE Manager/ Chartering and Operation, Atlantic Offshore Management.
“Seamless communications across three modes of connectivity provided by one trusted partner means we can rest assured that our vessels are always connected, with no risk of drop out during transit, no hidden costs and no juggling multiple contracts.”
Launched in 2020, Fleet LTE also offers 4G coverage for vessel operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
