Japanese shipping company ‘K’ Line reports that it has signed a new contract agreement with India-based Diabos Global to use its port expense settlement systems.
Based in Mumbai, Diabos offers a web-based application used to streamline disbursement accounting, cash management, towage contract management, and port cost estimation. The firm also provides a range of related value-added services such as document management, port and agency data management, agency audits, and port supplier management.
The introduction of the new system at ‘K’ Line is part of the shipping company’s broader digital transformation (DX) strategy announced in late 2022, which it has organised around five pillars – DX ashore, DX at sea, DX of data, DX of human resources and security to support DX.
The introduction of the Diabos system falls within its DX ashore and DX of data areas, which will also be strengthened by ‘K’ Line’s planned introduction of the VESON IMOS Platform (VIP) in 2024.
‘K’ Line’s plan is to outsource its port expense processing operations, including assessment and journaling of port expenses, to DIABOS, to build a data set that can then be entered into the VIP system.
