Scottish company RAB Microfluidics reports that it has secured a new contract to develop an autonomous oil monitoring system for 2-stroke marine vessel engines.
The £750,000 deal with an unnamed energy company aims to deliver oil condition monitoring technologies based on RAB’s ‘lab-on-a-chip’ system that can also be deployed across the wider maritime cargo sector.
The development of the autonomous system follows the launch of the company’s original Oleum Oracle portable oil condition monitoring product in 2023.
“(This) collaboration signifies the growing recognition of our innovative oil condition monitoring solutions,” said Dr Rotimi Alabi, CEO and Founder of RAB Microfluidics.
“The development of this autonomous system will empower the maritime cargo industry to optimise operations and ensure the smooth running of their fleets.”
The automated oil monitoring system is expected to come to market by the end of 2025.
